Thanks for stopping by! My name is Michael Rung and I'm a landscape, night sky, and wildlife photographer based out of Fort Worth, Texas.
Throughout my life I've always been interested in photography but never really saw it as a hobby or skill worth serious pursuit until the past several years. I enjoyed taking pictures with whatever camera I was given and, occasionally, I'd get a shot I really liked. Perhaps somewhat ironically, it was cell phone photography that first really piqued my interest. I was an advocate of Microsoft's now-failed Windows Phone platform and quickly upgraded to the Nokia Lumia 1020, with its 41 megapixel camera, when it was released in 2013. In 2015, on a business trip to Ireland and armed with nothing more than a newer Lumia, I started looking at what I was capturing as something more than snapshots... but I also quickly realized that, upon closer review, the image quality didn't actually hold up as well as I'd thought. That led to me purchasing my first DSLR - a Canon T5i with the 18-55mm and 75-300mm kit lenses - and I immediately dove into every tutorial I could read or watch. For the first time, I had found a hobby for which I was truly passionate.
Throughout my professional life, spanning a career in sales and information technology, I have achieved my greatest satisfaction from teaching and developing others. I now hope to extend that to the photography space through this website and, soon, private and group workshops focused on sharing my knowledge with those of you just starting out, looking to hone your existing skills, or just wanting to connect while capturing this amazing world through your camera's lens.
